Big Island Elopement Guide

Big Island, Hawaii Island Wedding & Elopement Planning

Hawaii is one of the most breathtaking and romantic destinations in the world, making it a top choice for couples seeking an unforgettable elopement experience. From black sand beaches and dramatic lava cliffs to waterfalls and secluded jungle spots, Hawaii offers endless possibilities for an intimate and stress-free wedding. If you’re dreaming of a scenic, adventure-filled, and deeply personal wedding day, eloping in Hawaii is the perfect choice!

5 QUESTIONS WE ALWAYS HELP OUR COUPLES WITH:

  1. Which island and location are right for us?
    • Hawai’i island has SO many dreamy spots—do you want a black sand beach, a waterfall, a jungle vibe, or epic lava cliffs? Each island has its own magic, so choosing the right one is key!
    • Big Island:
      • Black Sand Beach: Punaluʻu Black Sand Beach: Exchange vows on a beach with unique black sand, where the gentle hum of ocean waves and the sight of sea turtles create an enchanting atmosphere.
      • Private Waterfall Experience: Imagine a ceremony surrounded by the mist of powerful waterfalls and the vibrant hues of tropical flora.
      • Waipio Lookout and Cliff Wedding: With its towering cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and lush greenery, Waipiʻo Valley offers a secluded backdrop that’s nothing short of magical.
      • White Sand Beaches: Kukio Beach is our favorite!
  2. Do we need any permits or paperwork?
    • Hawaii keeps things pretty simple! You’ll need a marriage license (easy to get) and possibly a permit if you’re eloping in a state park or beach. We’ll guide you through it all!
  3. What’s the best time of year to elope in Hawaii?
    • Hawaii is beautiful year-round, but some months have fewer crowds, better sunsets, or the dreamiest weather. Let’s find the best time for your perfect day!
      • April to October – Warm, dry weather with stunning sunsets. Do not book Your Wedding on Ironman Championship week: October 7-13, 2025
      • November to March – Slightly cooler with occasional rain, but great for whale watching and fewer crowds. Check kids spring break weeks. Usually the flights tickets and hotels are most expensive
      • Our Favorite month for Elopements & Weddings is January! The busiest month – May
      • Weekdays & Sunrise/Sunset – Opting for a weekday elopement at sunrise or sunset ensures a more private experience and the best lighting for photos. (Do not plan elopement on Saturday and Sunday as it will be more people in the beach)
  4. Who do we need to book, and when?
    • A great photographer (that’s a must!), an officiant, florals, and hair & makeup can make your elopement feel extra special. Booking early means getting the best team! Check our All Inclusive Package and we will book everything for you.
  5. How can we make our day extra magical?
    • Picture a sunrise ceremony, a private beach picnic, or even a helicopter ride to a secret waterfall—your elopement should feel like you. Let’s dream up something unforgettable!
